It is essentially a place in a CD-ROM game you used to play many years ago. And only a few hours back, you thought to yourself: "This place is oddly familiar...... what is this place?"
Turns out, you were transported into the landscape for no reason at all!!
You think nothing of it as you travel to the city portion, located nearby.
Taking the tunnel was the better choice; being half-asleep was one thing, but being told about the colorful lights really sold you. The lights reminded you of a water slide you saw at one point.
It will be a common sight as you travel between Mainland and City.
You've arrived. It was at this moment that you've got yourself a place to live.
The neighbors greet you. A particularly cheerful neighbor, Suno, throws a welcome party for anyone who moves into this apartment building.
Suno the blob has lived here for about five years; she only moved in on her 15th because her parents treated her terribly for the first fifteen or so years. She has a special interest in Humana-T.
It is currently playing on her clear pink/white all-in-one merubox; the type of MB with a clear plastic casing and an Epi-Cart player built into the set; it almost looked like an ancient computer your old friend had, but in TV form. There were specks of glitter inside the MB's casing which reminded you of something you couldn't put your finger on... was it jelly shoes? Plastic toy rings? Glitter pens perhaps?
You really didnt know... It irritated you for quite some time.
Minutes pass.
.....Kandi. It was Kandi. Specifically, the colorful transparent pony beads with glitter in it.
Suno handed you a small packet of fruit snacks and told you "You're going to love it here".
She then gave a tour of her apartment. Suno walked you around to her depression bed. The blankets were very messy and were not neatly set up.
On the bed frame was a contraption that confused the everliving crap out of you.
"What's this?"
Suno answered with "You'll see."
Suno couldn't sleep without this thing at ALL, and in places without a way to use the device, she would have to hum the songs to herself... or doomscroll on her Pikon all night.
The switch has been flipped on The Contraption of Painfully-Depressing Proportions. Depressing piano music played from the apparatus, consisting of dangling animals and spinning... cones?? Sliding beads??
As for the music, it sounded like a funeral up in here.
(She made the bed!!)
Fake crying turned to giggling, then almost silence as you manage to almost speak a sentence.
"You... You... Suno?? Y- you. You fall asleep to this???"
Suno nods her head, as the "funeral" music transitioned to a more cheerful piece.
She explained why, as the Contraption spun.
"A year after I moved here, there was a particular neighbor who would make too much noise. They were above my floor, and it really annoyed me. I purchased this thing from a real-world import store. It's helped quite a lot. The noises above my floor are bothersome at most and it happens a lot.... I either hallucinate them or they're actually there. But whenever it kicks in, I turn this thing on and it drowns out 70% of it... I still need to file a noise complaint. They're actively bothering me."
The rest of the afternoon was spent watching Humana-T.
